Job Description:
The Substation Control Engineer 1 position requires 0-5 years of
related experience and an accredited bachelor's degree in
engineering (electrical engineering preferred) or professional
engineer license.
This position is responsible for Clients Transmission and
Distribution Substations design.
The position is responsible for providing engineering drawings,
specifications, and material requirements for substation projects
emphasizing safety, quality, scheduling, and costs. This position
requires approximately 25% travel.
Responsibilities:
Job responsibilities include creating a safe work environment by
putting safety first.
Understand the process used for substation control planning,
design, operation, construction, and maintenance
Understanding the functions and activities of various internal
departments involved in substation design, construction, and
maintenance
Understanding substation design practices and work processes.
Using all software applications used in substation design,
understanding NESC and Client design standards, supporting design
standard and criteria development for the system, supporting
construction and maintenance.
Teams during day-to-day operations and during emergency restoration
of failed equipment.
Estimating material for transmission projects, transmitting
construction packages and supporting specifications.
Skillsets and expertise required for this position include
introductory engineering knowledge, basic problem-solving skills,
limited discretion making independent decisions based on procedure
and review with supervisor, basic understanding of Control Design
tools and applications (AutoCAD Electrical, TEAMS, Stomps, SCST
Vault, Maximo), strong work ethics, positive attitude, and the
ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design
engineering staff and/or vendors.
